Karen Denise Mackey was born August 15, 1960, to Virdell Nix Henry Atkinson and Johnny Davis Henry in Hobbs, NM. Both parents are deceased.

She attended schools in Hobbs and graduated from Hobbs High School in May 1978. She was a loving, caring, selfless, and uplifting woman of God. She never met a stranger and was loved by everyone who met her.

Karen’s profession was a Human Resource Officer at Lea County State Bank for 30 years. She worked with United Way and was active in her church and My Power.

Survivors: Husband-Vernon Mackey Jr. II, Hobbs, NM, daughter Sherinda Leslie(Keane) Hobbs, NM, sons; Kerry Mackey Hobbs, NM, Vernon Mackey Jr III Hobbs, NM, Jason Mackey, San Antonio, TX, daughter in Laws- Adela Mackey, Hobbs, NM, Kim Urbantke Mackey, San Antonio, TX, Chalie Mackey, Rio Rancho, NM, sister; Barbara Lewis (Norman), Midland, TX, Pamela Smith (deceased), Kiwanis Atkinson (deceased) brother; Kerry Atkinson, Hobbs, NM, Johnny Henry (deceased), Gregory Henry (deceased) and a host of nieces and nephews, and loved ones.
