Massey Kanani of East Brunswick Township, passed on peacefully Saturday, September 11th at Hackensack-Meridian Hospital in Old Bridge surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Sari, Iran and predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Mercedeh and son Bob, his wife Tina of Westfield. She is also survived by her two brothers Parvis Kanani and Iradj Kanani and her 2 sisters, Pari Kanani and her husband Ahmad and Monir Showkati and her husband, Amir. She will be sadly missed by her cherished granddaughters Sophia and Kate and her grandsons Josef, Jack, and Graham. Massey loved her career as a registered nurse where she was employed at Margaret Hague, Jersey City Medical Center as a labor & delivery nurse and then at the Central Jersey Jewish Home for the Aged. She took great pleasure in helping anyone she could whenever possible. She enjoyed watching General Hospital and America’s Got Talent along with checking in and visiting with friends. She was always a beacon of emotional support for anyone who needed a shoulder to cry on. She gave the best hugs and always had a smile and a kind word. Massey was a pioneer with a warrior spirit. She was one of the first women to have an international career from Iran during the 1950s - a difficult time for woman’s rights. She overcame adversity with determination, will and by always giving 100%. One of the top graduates of her class - she was a role model for nurses and women. As her lifelong friend Parvin has said - She was my sister, my mother, my friend, my love, my everything- she will truly be missed. Services are private.
