Kenneth Hockenberry Obituary

Kenneth L. Hockenberry, 80, of Fayetteville, PA passed away Friday, September 10, 2021 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 16, 1941 in Waynesboro, PA he was the son of the late George L. Hockenberry, Sr. and Thelma J. Hockenberry. He graduated from the Scotland School for Veteran’s Children where he participated and completed training in typesetting. After graduating Ken went to work as a typesetter for the Public Opinion, Chambersburg. He retired in 1997 after over 37 years. As a post-retirement job he went to work alongside his son, at Hockenberry’s Lawn Care for 24 years. Ken enjoyed tinkering in his workshop, doing carpentry work, and most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was active in Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Special Olympics. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris Jean (Millhouse) Hockenberry who he married May 14, 1960 in Hagerstown, MD; three children, Lori Misner and her husband Randy of Orrtanna, PA, Lance Hockenberry and his wife Melissa and Lisa Westberry and her boyfriend Mike Helman both of Fayetteville; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Justina, Janelle, Katelyn, Destiny, Dorie and Chevy; six great-grandchildren, Avary, Mia, Luca, Brady, Eli and Olivia; his foster mother, Esther Wagner of Fayetteville; three siblings, Robert Wagner, Charlotte Malcolm and George Hockenberry, Jr.; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his foster father, Robert Wagner; three siblings, Doris Wolfe, David Hockenberry and Thelma Price; and his infant sister, Madeline. A graveside service will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, September 17, 2021 in Norland Cemetery, 2295 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201 with Pastor Tom Dunkle officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Thursday evening in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
