Charles McMillan Obituary

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Charles, on September 8th, 2021. Loving and devoted father, grandfather, and true friend to all whose lives he touched. He was a completely selfless person - always happy, regardless of any challenge life put before him. He took his journey home to Heaven after short illness from the hospital in Braselton Georgia. He was 76. Born in Milwaukee Wisconsin, he was the oldest of three brothers and grew up in Billings, Missouri. He received the rank of Eagle Scout as one of the youngest in his community, an achievement that he was exceptionally proud of. After high school he moved to Georgia to continue his first career with Kraft Foods. In 1981, fate brought him to meet his beloved wife, Cheryl at a sweethearts bowling tournament in Columbus Ga whom he wed in 1982. His time with Kraft foods eventually lead him to continue his education as a first responder, eventually retiring as a E.M.T. Predeceased by his wife, Cheryl Zimmerman, mother, Jeanne Stehling, and father Sidney Monroe McMillan. Charles lived a full life with no regrets as a wonderful father, dedicated grandfather and great friend to many. He never complained and always had an infectious smile on his face. He would go out of his way to make sure everyone around him was happy and comfortable regardless of the environment. He cherished helping raise and spending time with his two grandsons, watching baseball and golf, and enjoyed watching game shows. He often spent Saturdays enjoying time with his close friends, “The Cane Patrol” often eating lunch, playing bingo, watching movies, and playing cards or other activities. He always looked forward to spending time with Kim Sparks and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Tara Riley, Roger Riley, Grandchildren Garrett and Zachary Riley. Brothers James McMillan and William McMillan plus many nieces and nephews, Stepchildren James and Mathew Hale and family and close family friend Michael Ussery.
