Melvin Leroy Carpenter

Melvin Leroy Carpenter age 82 of Tuttle, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 8 th, 2021. Melvin was born November 29th, 1938, in Midwest City, Oklahoma. He met the love of his life at a skating rink in 1956. He knew that day he met the love of his life and they got married May 20th , 1958, in Oklahoma City. They had three beautiful children, Tina, Steven and Leatricia. Melvin retired in May of 1990 from being a truck driver. He drove over 3.5 million miles accident free and received multiple rewards for safe driving. Following retirement, him and his wife bought a small business that they jointly ran for 9 years in the stockyards of Oklahoma City. Melvin started playing senior softball in 1992. He won 4 national championships and was inducted into the Oklahoma Senior Softball Hall of Fame. Him and his wife traveled all over the United States for softball tournaments. Through all of Melvin’s adventures he met many friends that were drawn to him for his kindness and honesty. He was a loving husband, patient father, honest friend, and fun grandpa/great grandpa. Melvin loved being around his grandchildren. He would always make a point to make it to as many baseball games, dance recitals, track meets, band contest, and all other various activities they were interested in. He was famously known in the family for introducing them all to chocolate milk and you could always find Ice Cream in the freezer and double stuffed Oreos in the cabinet. Melvin touched all that knew him and will be honored by the impact he left on each and everyone. Melvin is proceeded in death by, his bride of 62 years, Jacqueline Patricia Carpenter (Logan), his daughter Tina Rene Carpenter, his father and mother, Melvin Ray Carpenter and Geraldine Evelyn Carpenter (Smith) his two brothers Jack and Mike Carpenter. Melvin is survived by his son Steven and wife Lori Carpenter, daughter Leatricia Price, four grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and many dear friends. Melvin Carpenter’s family will be holding a small private memorial at a later date for immediate relatives only. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to Legacy Senior Living for a rocking chair in memory of Melvin.
