Genovevo B. Lopez known to many as “Gene” was called to his heavenly home on September 10th 2021. He was born on March 18th 1935 in San Benito Texas to Julian and Irene Lopez. He was a hardworking man who valued family. He held many positions from business owner to loving father/grandfather. For many years he owned and operated “Lopez and Sons Tire shop” after retiring from this business he worked as a custodian for SBCISD for 14 years. He touched many hearts and impacted so many lives. He taught us to be hardworking, responsible, and to take pride in your work. He loved each and every one of his children, Grandchildren, but the pride of his life was his great-grandchildren. He is preceded in Death by his loving wife of 58 years Luisa M. Lopez. His parents Julian and Irene Lopez, His brothers Santo Lopez, Eusebio Lopez, Pedro Lopez, Elixandro Lopez, Jesus Lopez. Sisters Gregoria Lopez and Gregoria (Gollita) Lopez, Granddaughter Valerie Lopez, and Great Grandson Julian Anthony Lopez Jr.. Daughter-in-law Nelda Connie Lopez. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Daughter Norma Lopez, Sons: Efrain Lopez, Carlos (Marisela) lopez, Ricardo (Michelle) Lopez, Rene (Bertha) Lopez, Elexander (+ Nelda ) Lopez, Rudy (Stephanie) Lopez, David (Nereyda) Diaz. Sister: Manuela Rodriguez, and 15 grandchildren, and 18 Great Grand children. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021, from 5 pm to 9 pm, at Thomae Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, with a recitation of the Holy Rosary to be held at 7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021. At 2 pm at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in San Benito. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park. We also like to extend a heart felt thanks to VBMC nursing/respiratory staff and Dr. Akinyemi, Dr. Cynthia Luna and Dr. Evans for their care and support of our father during his hospitalization. Serving as Pallbearers will be: • Zachary Lopez • Joshua Lopez • Abraham Lopez • Adam Lopez • Isaac Lopez • Jacob Lopez • Seve Lopez Honorary Pallbearers will be: • Edgar Estrada • Julian Lopez • Eric Chapa • Bryan Lopez • Jessie Solorzano All individuals are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines by socially distancing a minimum space of 6 feet apart and must wear face covers or masks.
