Gerald Edward White Obituary

My beloved husband, Gerry White AKA Gerald E. White Jr. AKA Touper, peacefully passed away on August 18, 2021 at our home in Fairfield, VT, surrounded by his loving family members including our youngest son, our only daughter, and some of his family, a sister and brother. Gerry was born on November 26, 1957 in Paterson NJ to Gerald E. White Sr. and Rita B. (Chicoine) (Maynard) White (who have both preceded him). Within the year they moved back to Vermont. He spent his childhood years growing up in the Colchester and Malletts Bay area. Porters Point and Prim Road in the Colchester area were favorite places to hang out and get into trouble with his childhood friend, Steve Quintin and had very fond memories of those times. He leaves behind his childhood bride of 45 years, Patti Jane (St. Francis), son Eric Gerald, daughter Heather Marie White Sylvester and youngest son Jason Edward. His brothers and sisters include Bruce Maynard (Susan, Karen), Alan and Alice Maynard (Christopher, Holly), Robert and Sandi Maynard (Adam, Alison, Aaron), Joanne and Russell Sweet (Tammi, Stacey, Shawn) Jimmy and Ann Maynard (Joey), Carol Berteau (Randall, Lisa) and her wife Sheryl Divoll, Brother-in-Law, John B. St. Francis, (Anita), and Sisters-in-Law, Laurie Griffin and Judi St. Francis Fannon. Gerry loved his grandchildren, Arianna Sylvester, his only granddaughter and his two grandsons, Felipe and Jason (JJ) White, both of NJ. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, past co-workers, and so many other people that Gerry interacted with over the years. Always a smile and a wave. He was predeceased by his eldest sister, Joyce Pretty, (Geoffrey). Gerry had a brief career as a roofer with his cousins, Gary and Danny Maynard, and Uncle Pete (Maynard Roofing), when we first married, and then worked at the old Goss Dodge on Pine St. in Burlington, before starting at G. S. Blodgett in 1979. He retired in 2017 after 38 years of loyal and dedicated employment. Following retirement he worked for a time with Green Mountain Messenger in Franklin County picking up lab work at the various clinics and doctors offices. Gerry enjoyed driving and was quite social with the doctors and nurses he interacted with. He would come home all cheery with funny little stories. But his diagnosis of lung cancer in September, 2020 changed life. But the one thing that he truly enjoyed after he discovered this hobby in 2015 - and really helped him tremendously deal with occupying his mind and life! TINY TRUCKS - Remote Control Scale rigs. If he didn’t have one car – he had 50! Build your own vehicle. All this technical little detail work! He met some wonderful friends along the way - Ben, Trevor, R J, April and Tony, to name a few. He loved NASCAR, having watched Dale Earnhardt Sr.’s career from the very beginning. He loved the New York Yankees and the Washington Redskins. He thoroughly enjoyed his time coaching little league with Eric and then Jason. He enjoyed golfing at Kwiniaska and Enosburg Country Club after moving to Fairfield in 2003. Finally, there's our dog Bear. We each never really had a dog growing up. Oh my! Puppies are something else, aren’t they! He is now 5 years old and missing his Daddy, along with his fur brothers, Cleo and Diesel. Just like Mommy. Honey, it has been quite the adventures we have had together - we really were such kids. You know how much I loved you - how much we loved each other. Rest Easy Now. Breathe Better. No more pain. I’ll be talking to you. A Celebration of Gerry was held on August 28, 2021 at John & Anita’s home in Milton. A Catholic Memorial Service honoring Gerry’s life will be held at a later date.
