William J. Coalson Sr, 76 of Middletown, DE, died Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Christiana Hospital, Wilmington, DE. William was born in Jackson, Mississippi to the late William J. and Lorene C. Grantham Coalson. He was a 1963 graduate of Chichester High School and then attended Goldy-Beacom College until 1965 when he entered the Air Force serving from 1965-1971. William started out his career at Scott Paper where he worked for 26 years before moving onto the Esschem Company where he was a blender before his retirement. William enjoyed all Philadelphia sports teams and the Arkansas Razorbacks. He was also an avid NASCAR fan, but what William enjoyed most was spending time with his family. William was a loving husband for 53 years to the late Becky S. Ford Coalson. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Carolyn A. Restucci who died in 2003 and Shirley Weitzel who died in 2002. William is survived by his son, William J. Coalson Jr and his wife Sharyn; his daughter, Kristen L. Petitt and her husband Robert; and his grandchildren, Jared Coalson, Alexa Coalson, Madison Petitt, Timothy Petitt, Kaylee Petitt and Brooklynn Petitt. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service 11 am on Saturday September 18 at the Kevin M. Lyons Funeral Home, 202 S. Chester Pike, Glenolden, PA 19036 where friends may call from 10-11. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions in his name to the Nemour's Dupont Children's Hospital, 1600 Rockland Rd, Wilmington, DE, 19803 would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements David A.
