(Ken Southerland) Jack Kenneth Southerland, 86, husband of the late Robbie Jo Hackett Southerland, of Belton, S.C., died Thursday, September 9, 2021, at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Greenville, S.C. on May 12, 1935, he was the son of the late Jack and Letha Southerland.

Ken was in the last graduating class of Williamston High School, (Class of 1953), and was a graduate of Forrest College with a degree in Bookkeeping and Accounting. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural carrier.

He was a professional drummer and played in a jazz band for over 30 years.

He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and played in the U.S.A.F. Jazz Band.

Ken was an active member of Dorchester Baptist Church in Belton where he served as a Deacon, a Sunday School teacher, and usher.

He is survived by his children, Kathy Cooper (Tim), Mark Southerland (Donna), 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Robbie Jo Hackett Southerland, his daughter, Faye Elgin and his son, John Tilley.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at 2:00pm in The Tribute Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center 1621 Pearman Dairy Rd. Anderson, S.C. 29625. Rev. Michael Allen will officiate, and burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with military honors by the U.S. Air Force.

The family will receive friends, at The Standard, prior to the service, from 1:00pm – 2:00pm.
