Raised in M é xico, she immigrated to Illinois as an adult in July 1979 and remained living here until her last day of life.
Hospicia was the matriarch of not only our immediate and extended families but also friends who, by choice, became family members. She was a strong, independent, open-minded, creative, and spirited feminist who lived with integrity and was well ahead of her time. She was a fierce advocate for individuality and equality for the voiceless and underserved. She was a devout believer of the Sacred Heart, Virgen of San Lucas, Virgen of Guadalupe, and Saint Joseph. She inspired and guided countless people through life by example, word, and prayer.
Hospicia loved life and lived it to the fullest with no regrets. She loved regional Mexican music, especially Pedro Infante, Antonio Aguilar, and Las Jilguerillas. She loved to sing and dance el zapateado en la tabla. She loved to travel and was a central part of our family events. She was always happy, optimistic, encouraging, and graceful. She had a beautifully kind soul that touched everyone deeply.
