Richard M. Magula

<p>Richard M. Magula, 88, of Hazle Twp., passed away Friday evening at The Manor at St. Luke Village, Hazleton.</p> <p>Born in Hazleton on March 1, 1933, he was the son of the late Stephen and Mary (Nydock) Magula.</p> <p>He was a graduate of St. Gabriel&rsquo;s High School and then entered the United States Army and served during the Korean War.&nbsp;</p> <p>Richard began his working career in the electrical trades and later worked in sales for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.</p> <p>Married to Helen (Pavlick) Magula in 1955, they celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary this past May. They spent their life together traveling, working with parishioners to better their church, and enjoyed every moment spent with their family.&nbsp;</p> <p>Richard was well-known by his close friends as being inventive and able to fix just about anything. He was dearly loved and will be missed by his family and friends.&nbsp;</p> <p>In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son Michael and a sister Mary Joan Tutko.</p> <p>Surviving, along with his wife Helen, are his son John and his wife Karen of Weatherly; a brother Jerry and his wife Joanne of Hazleton; a sister Lorraine Smith of Hazleton; grandson Justin and his wife Nadia of Mechanicsburg; granddaughter Heather Tuberion and her husband Brian&nbsp;of Mountain Top; great grandchildren Aria and Henry Magula and Brian Tuberion Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.</p> <p>Family and Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at St. Gabriel Church, Hazleton. Interment will follow in St. Mary&rsquo;s Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, McAdoo.</p> <p>A calling hour will be held Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of service in the church.&nbsp;</p> <p>In lieu of flowers and gifts, please make donations to St. Jude Children&rsquo;s Research Hospital in memory of Richard at www.stjude.org.</p> <p>Richard would want to you to perform an act of kindness or generosity for someone in need, anytime the opportunity would present itself.
