Norma H. Cook Obituary

Norma Holloway Cook, age 91, proud to have been born on Veterans Day 1929, lifetime resident of Atco, NJ, went home to be with the Lord on September 10, 2021. She is survived by her children Russell Cook (Dorene), Nancy Welsh (Rick), Susan Danesi (Carlo); five grandsons Ryan Mullen, Dylan Cook, Brody Cook (Courtney), Mark Edmondson (Chelsey), Kevin Edmondson (Jacqueline); and her precious baby great granddaughter Kristine Edmondson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Donald Cook; and parents Frieda and Russell Holloway. Above all, she loved God and was a lifelong, faithful, Christian servant. Norma was an active member of Atco Presbyterian Church for all of her life, where she served as deacon, and member of Bible Study, Sunday School, Women’s Circle, Bluebirds, Quilters, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Second Chapter, sent cards to church members and others and assisted or donated to many church outreach programs, offered to drive people to church and formerly sang in the choir. When Norma and Don were first married, she was an employee at Garveys Corporation. Later she chose to be a stay at home Mom from Russell’s birth until Sue started school. Next Norma worked as a teachers’ assistant at Archway School for 21 years. She was a good influence on many troubled teenagers. Norma loved nature and all of God’s creation. Clouds, butterflies, birds, rainbows, flowering plants and backyard creatures were some of her favorites. She also enjoyed making, displaying, and gifting jig saw puzzles. She enjoyed camping in beautiful places throughout the USA with her husband and family. Sewing, quilting, and crocheting were other favorite hobbies, and she was an avid reader. Norma and Don often opened their home to extended family members and friends, especially at Christmas. All were cheerfully welcomed. Norma was a humble woman who did not like the limelight. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who will be dearly missed but always remembered by all who knew and loved her. An outside memorial service will be held at: Atco Presbyterian Church (parking lot) 2259 Atco Ave. Atco, NJ 08004 Wednesday, September 15, 2021 beginning at 9:00 am with a brief visitation, to speak with family members and see some photographs and mementos of Norma’s life, followed by a worship service at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers contributions in Norma’s memory may be made to: Atco Presbyterian Church (or its Food Bank) or National Wildlife Federation Organization NWF.org To sign the guestbook online, please visit the tribute wall at www.lpwoosterfuneralhome.com
