Wanda J. McCardell
Mrs. Wanda J. (Staley) McCardell, 65, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021, in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born January 19, 1956 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Staley and Polly V. (Kaiser) Larkin. She was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area. Mrs. McCardell graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1974. She and her husband, the late William M. McCardell, Jr., were married on July 4, 1992. Mr. McCardell died on June 11, 2013. Mrs. McCardell worked for the South Mountain Fire Hall and later the Pennsylvania Unemployment office, Chambersburg. She was a member of the South Mountain Fire Hall and enjoyed going to the beach and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by two children, Derrick Mentzer and Danielle Mentzer, both of Waynesboro; seven grandchildren, Tyler, Logan, Michaela, Payton, Bryce, Ayden, and Landyn; two great-great-grandchildren, Lawson and Lila; four brothers, Mark Staley of South Mountain, Todd Staley of Dover, PA, Kenneth Larkin of Easton, MD and Mike Larkin of Salisbury, MD; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Dana Mentzer who died in 1997 and one brother, Steven Staley. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 15, 2021 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Rev. William D. Kauffman officiating. Burial will follow in Strang’s Cemetery, South Mountain, PA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Tuesday evening, in the funeral home.
