Ian M. Munro Waterloo, Ontario Obituary

Ian M. Munro

Peacefully, to greet the sun in Kitchener-Waterloo on November 19, 2011. Cherished husband of Lorraine of Waterloo, proud Dad to Larry (Rose) of Kincardine, Margaret (Ken) of Thunder Bay, Jim of Waterloo, Andrew of Toronto and Robert (Tonya) of Wellesley. Dear Grandpa to Shannon Pellett (Chris), Matt Munro, David, Robert, Amanda and Megan Bates, Eric, Dylan, Tyler and Alyssa Munro. Ian was born at Park Hill Gold Mines to the late Eric and Jean Munro in January, 1935 and was dutiful big brother to the late Eric (the late Mary) of Palmerston. Ian grew up in Wawa where he and Lorraine started a family and lovingly and, with wisdom and care, embraced that duty through years in Sault Ste. Marie and Kitchener Waterloo. Ian was a long time employee of the Algoma Ore Division, Algoma Steel Corporation and B.F. Goodrich. Ian was a problem solver, early age sportsman, later year recreationalist and full time family man. Next to family, Ian was most at home among friends and planes at the Flying Dutchman model airplane club. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family. Friends are invited to share their memories of Ian with his family during a memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday , November 22, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 23, 2011 from 10:00 to 10:45am and the service to celebrate Ian’s life will be held in the chapel of the funeral home at 11:00 am. A reception will immediately follow the service in the fireside reception room. A private family interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the K-W Association for Community Living by contacting the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
