Elvon R. "Peanut" Baylor Obituary

Elvon R. Baylor was at home when he was called to rest on September 11, 2021. He was born in Washington, DC on May 31, 1956 to Gladys & the late Ezekiel Baylor.

At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord & Savior and was a member of Siloam Baptist Church. Peanut was educated in the District of Columbia at Ballou Senior High School. After high school, Elvon attended Harry Lundberg School of Seamanship in Piney Point, MD.

He enjoyed all types of music. As a baby, His Aunt Marie started calling him “Peanut” That’s how he got his nickname. He later worked for the National Capital Parks Service.

He was preceded in death by his older brother Gregory, and Father Ezekiel Baylor.

Fondly remembering him are his mother, Gladys Baylor of Montross, VA; his sister, Christal Baylor of Fort Washington, MD; brother, Kent Taylor of Baltimore, MD; three nieces, Jeneka Reed (Quentin), Sharita Bryan of Washington, DC, and Kentay Gilchrist of Suitland, MD; two uncles, Raymond Baylor (Dorothy) and Roger Nelson; aunts, Marie Lee of Waldorf, MD, Frances Ashton, Carolyn Dixon, and Mary Nelson all of Montross, VA; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.

Funeral service for Elvon Baylor of Montross, Virginia will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 12 Noon in the chapel of the WELDON-FISHER FUNERAL HOME.

Interment will follow in the Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery, 1614 Zacata Road, Montross, Virginia.

Mr. Baylor may be viewed from 10AM until service time on Friday at the funeral home.
