David Chartee Whaley

David Chartee Whaley, 92, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away Friday, September 10, 2021, at Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, Arkansas.

He was born on August 19, 1929, in Heber Springs Arkansas and was the son of the late David and Mary (Pike) Whaley.

Chartee was united in marriage to Shirley Gail (Pillow) Whaley on April 10, 1955, and to this union three children were born.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Washington Whaley; mother, Mary Ellen Whaley; brother, James Willard Whaley; and sister, Reva Graddy.
 Chartee or “Tee”, as many people called him, was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. In spite of the fact that he was a man of few words, he never met a stranger.  He was dedicated to his faith and was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Piggott, Arkansas for many years.  Although his passion was farming, he retired from Emerson Electric after twenty-three years of service.  
Chartee is survived by his children, Nora Ellen Trivunovich and husband Nick of Plant City, Florida, David Mitchell Whaley and wife Donna of Douglas, Georgia and Teresa Sale and husband Scot of Piggott, Arkansas; four grandsons, Chris (Morgan) Chandler of Fayetteville, Arkansas, John Trivunovich of Sydney, Australia, David Colin (Samantha) Whaley of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Aaron Mitchell (fiancée Olivia) Whaley of Warner Robins, Georgia; three granddaughters, Meghan Trivunovich of Plant City, Florida, Kristin (Joseph) Crittenden of Piggott, Arkansas, and Tabitha Gurley of Sherwood, Arkansas; eight great-grandchildren, Hollyn, Bryn, Drew, David Loyd, Katelyn, Claire, Ryan, and Carter; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hoggard & Sons Chapel in Piggott, Arkansas, with Bro. Jack Cole officiating. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Chris Chandler, Meghan Trivunovich, David Colin Whaley, Aaron Mitchell Whaley, Kristin Crittenden, and Tabitha Gurley.  Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
