Metter - Hilton D. Fowler, Jr., age 80, passed away Friday, September 10, 2021, in Candler County Hospital in Metter. Memorial services will be held at a later date. H.D. was born and raised in Bleckley County and was the son of the late Hilton Fowler, Sr. and Cora Smith Fowler. He graduated from Dodge County High School in 1959, after which he served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. He was the widower of Patricia Herrick, whom he met at his last duty station in Tuscon, AZ. H.D. and Patricia were married in 1967 and enjoyed 52 years of marriage. After his military service, he worked for Motorola until his retirement in 2001. Hilton was a very active member of The Church of Epiphany in Tempe, AZ, and had recently moved back to Georgia to be with his family. He is survived by his daughters, Michelle Fowler and Pamela Fowler both of Metter; grandson, Mitchell; sister Mabel Hiegaard; and several nieces and nephews.
