Ms. Valerie (Vickie) Bivens-Young went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on August 22, 1960 to the parentage of William R. and Georgia B. Bivens. Although we could write a book about Vickie, this is going to be short and sweet. Vickie considered her work for the Lord to be her reasonable service. The only acknowledgment she wanted from it was to hear “Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things: Enter into the joy of your Lord.” Vickie was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents, Randolph and Bertha Mae Bivens and Mae Ella Haley; father, William Bivens; aunts, Mamie Carol Lacey, Martha Ann Bivens and Freda West; a very special aunt, Betty Lou Eaton; and three uncles who having in her life she likened to winning the lottery: Marvell Bivins, Sr., Robert Edward Bivens, Sr., and David Bivens, Sr. She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory her beloved son, Christopher Micah Young; her mother, Georgia Bivens; sister, Carmen (Reuben) Ross ; brother, Kent (Connie) Bivens ; nieces, Jasmine Fennell, Stephanie (Jade) Sahadeo , and April Ross; nephews, Dominique Bivens, Trent Bivens, Brent Bivens; two very special great nieces, Noelle Bivens-Moore and Olivia Bivens-Moore, great niece, Quinn Sahadeo, and great nephews Malachi Fennell and Jaden Green. She is also survived by aunts, Catherine Willis, Bernice Bivins, Charlene Bivens, and Reedell Bivins; a host of relatives and friends; and her sister/cuz, Pamela Speed-Bivins. What a legacy.
