Margery, Margie, Marge, Mommie, Momma, Ma, you have a lot of names, but your most important name is Mom. Born in Shattuck, OK, raised in Higgins, TX, during the dust bowl and great depression, “throw it out” were words that never passed her lips. Fix it, build it, paint it were her words. She was a woman of many talents. She never met a hobby she didn’t love. Sewing, ceramics, wooden yard art to celebrate the holidays, at one time she had 27 flower beds, 100 varieties of iris, all labeled in perfect calligraphy. At 98 she was still signing her name in calligraphy. If you came to her home, you were to be fed. She only knew how to cook from scratch. Her recipes are filled with phrases like: “add flour until it feels right, cook until it tastes done, mix in big blue bowl”. So, if you are inheriting her oatmeal cookie recipe, you are inheriting the big blue bowl. If you inherit the big blue bowl, you also must get all of her yeast breads and sweet bread recipes, they are all mixed in that same bowl. Any recipe could be made better by adding two cups of pecans. She was an amazing artist. She painted in acrylics, watercolor and oils in absolute detail. Her greatest joy in life was when we were all together, working on a major or minor project, celebrating anything, eating a holiday meal, just as long as we were all there. She is survived by: her children – daughter Sherry, son Terry and wife Debbie, son Kevin and wife Stephanie. Those who called her MOM: grandchildren – Chris and wife Annabelle, Shelly and husband Bryan, Cody and wife Dani, Kyle and wife Heather, Katie and husband Kyle Drew. Her great grandchildren – Aven and Jackson, Ally and Wyatt, Kaden and Rowan, Owen, Calvin and Lincoln. We miss you Mom. Services will be held 11:00am Tuesday September 14, 2021 at McNeil’s Funeral Service with interment in the Mustang Cemetery.
