Chef Harvey Field Obituary

Chef Harvey Stanford Field stepped into Heaven on Saturday, September 4, 2021. He was born on April 17, 1966, to Harold Sydney Field and Hazel Lorraine Davis Field. A graduate of Hollidaysburg (PA) Area Senior High School’s Class of 1985, he was a member of the football team for 3 years. Upon graduating, Chef Harvey joined the United States Marine Corp. After completing basic training at Paris Island, SC, he was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC where he was promoted to Lance Corporal. He served at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba where he earned the Meritorious Mast Certificate for outstanding asset. He also received the Certificate of Good Conduct ‘First Award’ for the period of June 1985 to June 1988 and numerous other awards and certificates. Chef Harvey did a tour in Japan and served during Desert Storm. He finished his career in 1992 after serving three more years in the Marine Reserves. After his service in the Corp, Chef Harvey put himself through The Culinary Institute in Pittsburgh, PA and upon graduation worked in Pittsburgh. He also worked as an Executive Chef in Denver, CO; Dallas, TX; and Memphis, TN where he spent the last 25 years at various places of employment. Harvey opened Calipari’s Restaurant while John Calipari was head basketball coach at the University of Memphis. He also opened the Sidecar Restaurant in Bartlett, TN and the Country Clubs in Southaven, MS and Millington, TN. He was the Executive Chef at the prestigious private Memphis Country Club, the Memphis Zoo and the Crescent Club in Memphis, TN. He also worked as the Executive Chef for Baptist Hospitals in Memphis, TN and in Desoto, MS. Chef Harvey was employed as the Executive Chef for Robinhood Lifestyles Retirement Community, Bartlett, TN at the time of his passing. Chef Harvey was a wonderful husband and brother, true friend and an accomplished chef. His family and friends are heartbroken by his death and will miss him greatly. Chef Harvey leaves behind his loving wife of 20 years, Johnna Louise Oatsvall Field; siblings, Sheila Field Blackwood of Collierville, TN, Harold Samuel Field, Haldanna Sheryl Field, Hershel Sydney Field, and Holly Sheldean Field Bianconi (Michael), all of Pennsylvania; nieces, Elizabeth Ashley Howley (Max Moon) of San Diego, CA and Suzanne Marie Field of Pennsylvania; nephews, Hershel Andrew Field and Christopher Michael Field, of Pennsylvania; a great niece; great nephews; and his beloved rescue dogs, Chloe, Mollie and Happy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Sydney Field and Hazel Lorraine Davis Field. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 1, 2021, all at Crossroads Baptist Church, 15 Houston Levee Road, Eads, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Chef Harvey’s name to Guardian Angels Pet Rescue, 131 Center St. #1751, Collierville, TN 38017.
