In Loving Memory of Gordon Earl Smith March 21, 1928 – September 7, 2021 Gordon Earl Smith, age 93, passed away on September 7, 2021. Gordon was born in White Plains, NY. As a young Eagle Scout, he loved the outdoors where his interest in taking pictures began. Gordon graduated from White Plains High School and entered into the Navy during World War II serving on both the FDR and USS New Jersey. From there he married and moved to California to attend the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. He studied photography which became his career for 35 years. Gordon was well-known in the field of Commercial Photography; his beautiful food photos used in many popular publications of the time. He loved fishing, hunting and traveling, going as far as Africa for a safari and Venezuela for bone-fishing. He was a longtime member of the Campfire Club of America and more recently enjoyed his time with the Potatuck Fishing Club. Gordon was a very gentle, kind, warm-hearted man with a great sense of humor, well-liked by everyone he met. He loved his family and enjoyed many, many wonderful times together. He is survived by his children Cathy Smith, Gary Smith and his wife Kathleen; Russell Smith and his wife Karen; Tracy Riess and her husband Joseph; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. A cemetery service will be performed at Lakeview Cemetery, 352 Main Street, New Canaan, CT on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Campfire Club of America, 230 Campfire Rd, Chappaqua, NY 10514.
