Keith Gurnsey Obituary

Keith Gurnsey 1935 - 2021 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Keith Gurnsey on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at 86 years young. Keith was born in Regina, SK on May 2, 1935, the youngest of four boys. Keith will be remembered by his wife, Linda and his children from previous marriages, Darlene (Art), Barry (Marilyn), Carol, Alison, Kelly (Kim), Adriaan (Becky), and Megan. Keith was very proud of his grandchildren, Kyle, Jeremy, Amanda, Orion, Jill, Grayson and Ellie. Keith was predeceased by his parents, Anne (nee McMillan) and Edward, his brothers, Robert, Ray and Kenneth. Keith moved to Calgary in 1955 and worked as an Electrician and Mechanic. Keith opened Highfield Shell (corner of Blackfoot & 42 Ave SE) in 1969 which he operated almost 20 years and apprenticed many mechanics. Keith went on to own many businesses with Oils Unlimited being his final company. Keith was a Master Mason for nearly 40 years. He will be missed by his fellow Masons; he has joined the Great Architect in the Grand Lodge above. We know that Keith will be cheering on his beloved Saskatchewan Roughriders and St. Louis Cardinals. In later years, Keith and Linda loved to travel. Often staying in Mexico, Keith loved talking with people on his morning walks around the Marina or poolside after swimming (across the pool). Sitting on the terrace reading and talking with Linda, as they looked over Banderas Bay while listening to Big Band Music, was when Keith was most content. We would like to thank Dr. John Dushinski, Southern Alberta Institute of Urology, for his many years of care and support. During the past year, Keith met many doctors, nurses, technicians and support staff at the various hospitals in Calgary. Everyone was caring and supportive. Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Tom Baker Care Centre (Foothills and Holy Cross locations), Palliative Care, and South Health Campus (Emergency and Unit 66). A Celebration of Keith’s Life will be planned for a later date. If people wish, donations may be made in Keith’s memory to Prostate Cancer Centre.
