Obituary

Reeni, as we all knew her, was born Monday, February 26, 1962, in Artesia NM to Rachel and David Samora.  At a young age, her parents moved her and Davy to Los Angeles CA, where she gained another brother and sister.  They spent most of her childhood in East LA where she was surrounded by lots of cousins, aunts, and uncles.  At the age of 9, her mom and dad set their sites on a fresh start and moved from the city with all the lights to the town with all the stars, Albuquerque, NM.  One year later, she gained her baby sister, Roxi. When her dad met Annette, they enjoyed their late-night Canasta games and runs to the 7/11 with Amy and RayRay.  Then Elodia was born and Reeni decided she would go back to her hometown of Artesia and live with Grandma Suzie and Granpa Toby.  She worked at the Artesia Country Club and at Jingle Bob’s and the day she turned 21 Uncle Leo put her behind the bar at The Winners Circle and she stayed there through the transition to the Country Connection.  This is when she first felt the Crazy D winds from Johnny Duran. The day Reeni had Dakota was the day that changed her life.  Her Angel baby was born 1/16/1990 in Albuquerque.   She knew he was her miracle baby and was a straight up gift from God.  When Reeni and Johnny walked down the aisle and said their vows, they knew there would be no other love than the love of their little family. Dakota was their whole world and when God took him Reeni set her sites on making the journey to meet him in heaven.  Reeni came to Albuquerque 6 years ago seeking assistance of the doctors here in the city.  She was given approximately 6 months to live with every diagnosis imaginable except Cancer.  We decided when she came to Albuquerque that we would stay in a positive frame of mind. She said, “We have a choice to make. Either we laugh or we cry. We choose to laugh.”  She was so excited the day she “flatlined” as she put it. She told everyone she spoke to about how she saw and felt the warm light and how she felt so much peace she couldn’t describe it in words.  She saw dad and felt Dakota’s bear hug and heard Grandpa Toby calling his Priettito (aka Dakota). Dad told her, “Not today, you have to go back.”  She was so excited when she woke up, she was like a little kid going to Disneyland.  She made Zekie promise if it happened again, he would not do chest compressions.  She was ready.  She progressed over the next 5 years and got to spend almost two years with the Peanut, (aka Jade-Nicole).  She was so excited when we found out and had her so spoiled before she was born.  She learned sign language so she could talk to Jade, and they hung out every day for breakfast and every afternoon to watch Cocomelon.  Reeni met Dakota on August 29, 2021.  She rode that funnel cloud, like Wonderwoman, with the wind blowing through her hair and just like in the eye of the storm she sits in Peace.
