Nelda Jane Hallock Irving, Texas Obituary

Nelda Jane Hallock

Nelda Jane Hallock, 79, passed peacefully at her residence in Irving, on September 2nd, 2021, surrounded by her family.
She was born on October 16,1941 in Wills Point, Texas to Tomas Robert “Bob” Rodgers and Margie Marie (Tull) Rodgers. After moving to Dallas as a young child, Nelda graduated from W.W. Samuel High School in Dallas, Texas.

Nelda was a liver transplant recipient on May 5th, 1999. At the time of her transplant, patients were given a general life expectancy of 5 years. As evidence of the power of God and Nelda’s strength and perseverance, the transplant gave Nelda and her family 22 years of beautiful, amazing, and priceless memories.

Nelda worked at American Standard Printing in Dallas, until her retirement.

Nelda’s passion in life included cheering on her Dallas Cowboys, whether it be in the stands at Texas Stadium or at home with her family. She never missed a game.

Nelda was known by all for her kind and gentle spirit, as well as her love for the Lord. She was a proud member of the Calvary Church in Irving Texas, for over 30 years.

It is said there is no greater love than a mother and grandmother’s love and this has never been truer for Nelda. She dedicated her early adulthood to raising her children James Jr. & Janell.

Nelda’s greatest love was for the Lord and her family. She passed her love of movies to her family, often buying tickets for the first showings of Star Wars and Marvel releases. Her house was a sight to see at Christmas time, decorations galore and the spirit of Christmas could be found in every room. From cookies and pies to casseroles and family dishes, there wasn’t a recipe Nelda couldn’t master and perfect.

Nelda is preceded in death by her father, Bob, who passed away when Nelda was 13 years old, her mother Margie Marie Rodgers Nabors (later remarried Hal Nabors) and her former husband James Franklin Dewey.

She is survived by her husband, Roger W “Bill” Hallock; son James Dewey Jr and wife, Janet, and grandchildren Jourdan Dewey, Trey Dewey & Brittney Emmons and husband, Chad, and great grandchild Carter; daughter, Janell Mora and husband, Charles, and grandchildren Matthew Mora and Ashley Mora; Stepson Adam Hallock, wife Kia and grandchildren Carina and Margot; Sister, Karla Smith and husband, Dennis, and niece Johnna Smith.

A Celebration Service will be held on Thursday, October 21st, 2021, at Calvary Church Chapel, located at 4401 N State Highway 161 Service Road, Irving, TX. The service is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM.
