Funeral services for Deacon Nesbert “Buddie” English, of Dudley, Georgia, were held on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 2 PM, at the Laurens Hill Baptist Church, 1404 Laurens Hill Church Road in Dudley. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Nesbert English was born on Monday, December 27, 1948, to the late David English and Frances Blackshear English in Laurens County. Nesbert English was drafted to the Vietnam War and served in the United States Army for two years. He worked at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center as a Dietary Supervisor, retiring after 29 years of service. On Saturday, August 26, 1972, Nesbert English married his high school sweetheart, Rosa Mae Pryor. He joined the Laurens Hill Baptist Church at an early age where he served in many capacities and became Chairman of the Deacons’ Ministry. Deacon Nesbert English was a gentle giant who lived his life as a God-fearing man who loved the Lord, his family, and his garden. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, as well as talking with his children and siblings daily. He was a pillar in the community and held many titles. He was a father figure, mentor, and humble servant to many. He enjoyed sharing knowledge and wisdom with his nieces, nephews, and all those he encountered. Deacon English enjoyed cooking and preparing meals for others and loved to share and provide fresh vegetables for the sick and shut in. He will always be remembered for his favorite saying, “You Can’t Make Up for Lost Time.” If you ever applied his words of wisdom to your life, you were truly blessed. He made his transition into eternity on Monday, September 6, 2021. Deacon English was preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny English, Haybut English, and David English, Jr., a devoted brother-in-law, George “Joe” Clover, a loving daughter-in-law, Rhoda English, grandson, Marcel Treshun English and by great-grandson, Octavious “K.J.” Whitfield. His beautiful life will forever be cherished by his wife of 49 years, Rosa Mae Pryor English; children, Toriano English of Perry, Ga., Rodriquez (Regina) English of Lizella, Ga., Cornelius (Christina) English of Stockbridge, Ga., Tyrone (Rhonda) English of Columbus, Ga., Jennifer Williams and Shundra English of Montrose, Ga.; Siblings Francina Peterson of Jonesboro, Ga. Josephine Surry of Conley, Ga., Mary Clover of East Dublin, Ga, and Dollie English of Dublin, Ga., Elder Ira D. (Linenell) English of Jonesboro, Ga.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mary R. English of Semmes, Alabama and Rose E. English of Dudley, Ga.; Johnnie (Gladys) Pryor of Macon, Ga., June Pryor of Macon, Ga., Nehemiah (Jeanna) Pryor of Waldorf, Maryland, Ernest (Rosa) Pryor of Dublin, Ga., Margie Pryor of Dudley, Ga., and Lou Ethel (Willie) Knowles of Dublin, Ga. fourteen Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren, one devoted farming assistant/mentee, Javonte Heck, a devoted service companion, Cash, and a host of nieces and nephews.
