Funeral services for Mr. Braxton Moore, of Dublin, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 11 AM at the graveside in the Valdosta Baptist Church Cemetery, 1975 GA Hwy 199 South, East Dublin, Georgia. Elder Michael J. Carter will deliver the eulogy. Mr. Braxton Moore, transitioned on September 5th, 2021. Mr. Moore was born on December 25, 1929, in Laurens County, Georgia to the late James Master Moore and the late Willie Mae (Mclendon) Moore. He was united in holy matrimony to Evelyn Moore on October 23, 1948. To this marriage, ten children were born, and they remained married for 44 years until her death. He was known throughout the community as "Brack/Brax". At a very early age, Braxton joined the Valdosta Missionary Baptist Church. He served in many different church capacities. He taught BTU and Sunday school. He served as Sunday school superintendent, was a delegate for church conventions, and collected money for church treasury. Braxton also served within the community as secretary of PTA. He was known to his family as a diligent provider, a walking encyclopedia for family history, and affectionately named "The Rocking Man". He held a vast number of occupations and careers within his lifetime. Braxton was a farmer by trade, one of the primary construction workers (Lewis Construction) to build highway 1-16 and Southeastern Papermill (B.N. & K Construction), school bus driver for B.D. Perry, employer of Wooly Mill (Fortsman & Company), employer of Southeastern Papermill, employer of Colonal Bread & Grocery Store, and a worker alongside his father and brothers pulping wood. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Mary Scott Holmes Moore; a daughter, Sandra Gail Moore, sons, Raymond Moore and Braxton Leon Moore; mother/in-law, Alberta Lattimore; father-in-law, William Lattimore; siblings, Claxton Moore, Essie B. Moore Singleton, Lency Moore, Marie Moore, Julia W. Moore O'Neal, Talmadge Moore, Quinton Moore, Dorothy Holmes, Essie Holmes Dudley, Elois Holmes Travick; brothers-in-law, Robert Travick Sr., Leo Dudley, Zebedee Lattimore, William Lattimore, Ulysses Lattimore; sisters-in-law, Leola Scott, Betty R. Howard, Mary L. Harrington, Sarah Danelly; nephew, Tim Moore; grandchildren, Lakeitha Moore and Giwana Moore. Braxton will be remembered lovingly by his children and family. He leaves to cherish, his daughters, Lois M. Robinson, Patricia L. Carter (Michael), Annie R. Dudley (Alfred), Joann Harrell (Elijah); his sons, Melvin J. Moore (Brenda), Russell L. Moore, Virgil V. Moore(Patricia), Mitchell L. Moore; grandchildren, Sylvia Ponder, AnnVelyn Carter, AeShalon Carter, Michael Carter II, Chiquetta Moore, Jamel Moore, Shawn Smith (Lauren), Vinson Moore, Cherie Moore Cooper, Christi Graham, Tere Edmond, Shamika Parker, Elijah Harrell Ill (Lisa), James Harrell Sr. (Markeetta), Robert Harrell; 21 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sisters-in-law, Irene Moore, Gloria Pittman, Willie Mae Wilburn (Robert), Claudia Mae Jordan, Rosa Lee Pryor (Ernest), Sharon Lattimore, Leslie Taylor(Ricky), 0dessa Lattimore; brothers-in-law, James O'Neal, John Lattimore, Johnny Lattimore, Robert Lattimore, George Lattimore (Mary), Benson Lattimore, Leartis Lattimore, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
