<p><span style="font-size:20px;"> Maria A. "Artie" Borges, 77, of Fall River, passed into eternal rest Thursday, September 9, 2021 at The Oaks in New Bedford following an illness.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:20px;"> Born in Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel, Acores, she was the daughter of the late Liboino and Maria Teresa (Carreiro) Borges. She was adopted and raised by the late Humberto and Maria Luisa (Carreiro) Tavares;</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:20px;"> Artie was employed by Rothschild Clothing for 30 years, retiring as a supervisor of the finishing department. She later was employed by Somerset Ridge Nursing Center, working in the laundry room. An avid reader, she enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews. She loved to travel.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 20px;"> She leaves three siblings Gustavo Tavares and his wife Margaret of Assonet, Mary Lou Pacheco and her husband Luis of Westport and Edward Tavares and his wife Paula of Riverside, RI; an aunt, Margarida C. Carvalho of Tiverton, and nieces and nephews.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 20px;"> Her funeral will be held Monday, September 13, 2021 at 10:30 A.M. from the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So.
