Gardner – Alcide Joseph Arsenault, 91, passed away peacefully at home, with his loving family by his side, on Tuesday, September 7, 2021.

Alcide was born in St. Paul, New Brunswick, Canada on July 11, 1930, a son of the late Maxime and Jeanne (Caissie) Arsenault. He was the beloved husband of the late Celia Marie (Savoie) Arsenault, to whom he was married for 54 years.

Alcide resided in Gardner for the last 6 years, having previously lived in Fitchburg and Canada. He was a communicant of St. Edward the Confessor Church in Westminster. Before retiring, Alcide worked for over 10 years at Pelletier Construction in Fitchburg as a carpenter. During his career he also worked at other area construction companies.

In his spare time, Alcide could be found in the outdoors, walking in the woods, or participating in his favorite pastime, fishing. He especially loved his time spent with his great-grandson, Dominic, deep sea fishing in Hampton, NH. Alcide had a great love for bluegrass music and played various instruments such as the violin, banjo and mandolin. He also enjoyed woodworking and could often be found tinkering in his woodshop.

Alcide will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Sharon Melanson and her husband Maurice of Westminster, MA and Patricia “Patsy” Arsenault-MacDonald of Venice, FL; two grandchildren, Chantelle Ricci and her husband Mark of MA and Rebecca MacDonald of WA; three great-grandchildren, Dominic Milton, Cooper Ricci, and Teighan Ricci; one sister, Stella Kalhok of CT; and six brothers, Leo Arsenault of MA, Clarence Arsenault of CT, Omer Arsenault of MA, John Paul Arsenault of FL, Romeo Arsenault of MA, and Paul-Emile Arsenault of CT. In addition to his parents and wife, Alcide was predeceased by his son, Thomas Arsenault, as well as his two brothers, Denis and Norman Arsenault.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Friday, September 17, 2021, at 10:00AM in St. Edward the Confessor Church, 10 Church St., Westminster. Burial will be private.
