Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, Sammie Daniel Loyd, age 93, passed away in Jefferson, Texas on September 6, 2021.  Sammie was born on November 1, 1927 in Lamesa, Texas to John Wesley Loyd and Alva Nora (Bullard) Loyd.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Alva Loyd; daughter-in-law, Sherri Loyd, and his granddaughter-in-law, Patty Dominguez Garcia.  He is survived by his children, Kelvin DeWitt Loyd, Derl Keith Loyd (Pauline) and Dr. Kimberly Barbolla Vasquez (Juan DeLuna); grandchildren, Johnathan Ryan Loyd (Riva Amyett), David Andrew Loyd (Somer), Sarah Elizabeth Loyd, Aaron Micah Loyd (Jennifer), Morgan Shafter (Chance), Meagan Loyd, J.J. Garcia, Brandon Caleb Pricer (Danielle), Cystie Vasquez (Andrew Ruth), Allison Nicole Pricer, Chelsea Paige Pricer, Sarah Denice Vasquez and Wesley Andrew Vasquez; great-grandchildren, Lana Loyd, Phoenix Loyd, Elijah Loyd, Noah Loyd, Isaiah Loyd, Josiah Loyd, Cayleigh Shafer, Cheyenne Shafer, Chyler Shafer, Conor Shafer, Camery Loyd, Kimber Loyd, Novalee Loyd, Armani Zuniga, Nate Garcia, Victoria Garcia, Abigail Pricer, Savannah Pricer, Caleb Pricer, Carter Vasquez and Tony Pricer, and one great-great-grandchild, A.J. Zuniga.

Sammie grew up in Brownfield, Texas and joined the United States Air Force at the age of 19. He was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska as a welder.  After the service, he attended Abilene Christian College where he met and married his college sweetheart and mother of all his children.  Sammie was employed with Bell Helicopter for 40 years, from 1950 to 1990.  He was a member and sojourner of Eastern Hills Church of Christ and enjoyed volunteering his time at the hospital in Marshall.  Sammie was well loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Graveside services for Sammie will be held at 2pm, Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Azleland Memorial in Azle, Texas.
