Alene M. Ranio

Alene M. Ranio, 94, devoted wife, mother and Christian, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. She was born March 1927, in Bellefonte, the daughter of the late Arthur A. Boob and Grace M. (Smoyer) Boob Fink. In 1968, she married Michael J. Ranio, Sr., who passed away in 2002. They shared 33 happy years together with their families and friends. She is survived by two sons and their wives, Dennis and Ann Sager, and Michael and Cathy Sager, and brother-in-law, Ronald V. King, all of Bellefonte. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Jennifer Rossman, Jeremiah Sager, Kristin Sager-Smith, and step granddaughter, Dana Antonuccio, five great grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, and three step great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous relative of the Smoyer, Sager, Boob, and Ranio families. She was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Darel and Lois Boob, a sister, Lois King, and her former husband, Richard H. Sager. She graduated from Bellefonte High School, where she was a drum major in the band. She worked at Penn State, the Bellefonte Hospital, for Dr. Walley (dentist), and the Bellefonte Area School District. A devoted member of the Faith United Methodist Church, Bellefonte, she enjoyed being a member in the Chancel Choir and the Fellowship Sunday School class. She helped serve meals at the church and for the Bellefonte luncheons. She volunteered in the church library and belonged to the Young at Heart church group. She was a frequent volunteer for the Red Cross blood drives at various locations in Bellefonte. Alene enjoyed being a Girl Scout and was a league bowler at the Bellefonte Lanes for many years. She enjoyed playing the piano, organ, and keyboard. Special thanks from the family to her friends at Burger King, where she was greeted by staff and friends so warmly, and thanks to the staff at the Eagle Valley Personal Care Home in Milesburg, for making her last years enjoyable and comfortable. Due to COVID-19, funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Faith United Methodist Church, 512 Hughes Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823, or to the Logan Fire Company No. 1, 120 E. Howard Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
