Obituary

Eben John Bartholomew was born November 2, 1993 to Randy and Beverly Bartholomew in Denver, CO. He spent his entire life in Broomfield, CO because he loved the Colorado mountains and the all the adventures it had to offer.

He lost his life doing what he loved. He was on a cliff diving adventure with a large group of friends. There was an accident in the dark of the night. He fell from a cliff into the depths of the water below. The injuries sustained in the fall were cause of his death.  Since no one was present at the time of the accident, his whereabouts were unknown.  A multi-day search effort ensued.  All his friends (50+!!), family, Division of Wildlife (DOW), and Baca County sheriffs searched on foot, with ATVs, drones and helicopter.  All the while, a DOW special water team searched the water.  What an effort. The convergence of law enforcement and those that cared.  It was a heart-felt experience.

Ebens' final days were full of the great thrill of amazing cliff dives (40-55 ft!) and hanging with his best buddies and new found friends around the camp fire.  Check it out if you have Facebook or Instagram access, the pictures and videos will bring goose bumps.

He graduated from Metro State University with a Computer Science degree. His passions were extreme sports (cliff diving, free style skiing, acrobatic trampoline, and rock climbing), fishing, and people. He used these passions to create a career as an extreme sports trainer. He trained and mentored countless youngsters to excel.  He also worked with special needs children. He taught all not only the sport, but also life approach skills. He spent last winter training competition skiers in Aspen. He loved those kids. When not teaching the kids, he was off on an adventure with friends old and new. The trips always took it to the limit: jumping the highest cliff, doing the craziest flips, or catching the biggest fish. All the while cracking up his friends with imitations and quick wit. He was a blast to be around...non-stop entertainment.  He started his entertainment "career" as a diver at Casa Bonita.

He loved his family.  His mom (Beverly), dad (Randy), sister (Jaizen), nephew (Rhett), and grandma (Irene Mascarenas) were top. This did not diminish his love for the rest of the family. He always found time to visit his grandma/aunts/uncles/cousins and make those times special.  At family events, all the young cousins would line up for him to teach them a new flip (or other crazy thing) or sit around intently listening to his funny stories. He loved those times as much as they did.

He did everything possible to get the most out of every moment of life and bring it to others. His time came way too early. He will be SO missed.
