James Castagna, 96, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2021 at Neilson Place in Bemidji, MN.
James was born November 11, 1924 in Hurley, Wisconsin, the youngest of three sons born to Pasqule and Anna Castagna.
On July 30, 1955, he married Bonnie at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Menomonie, Wisconsin. Jim and Bonnie made their home in Bemidji, Minnesota where they raised their two sons, Jeff and Steve.
James served his country in the armed services during WWII. He earned a Master’s degree from University of Wisconsin, Stout. He taught in Chicago, and the Roswell Military Institute, then spent the majority of his career teaching at Bemidji State University, where he was a vocational educator for 32 years.
Jim enjoyed yard work, restoring furniture and vehicles, walking, watching sports and joining close friends for card games and meals. He also liked to hunt and fish.
He is survived by one son, Jeffrey (Kelly) Castagna, daughter-in-law Barb Castagna and two grandchildren: David Castagna and Laura Castagna.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Bonnie, and one son, Steven.
Cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
