Donald Marvin Ladd Obituary

Donald Marvin Ladd passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021. A celebration of life will be held at First Baptist Church on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 4 pm. Visitation of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Mr. Ladd will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery during a private family service.

Mr. Ladd was born on March 25, 1934 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was the second of three children born to the late Mary Bostic and Luther Floyd Ladd.  As a child, their family moved to Gulfport, Mississippi where he graduated from Gulfport High School. Mr. Ladd then attended Mississippi State University and obtained a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He was employed at the Waterways Experiment Station for 42 years. After his retirement, he could usually be found at his grandchildren’s football, baseball, softball, and cheerleading competitions.

Mr. Ladd was an active and faithful member of First Baptist Church. He was a member of the media ministry for over 30 years, involved with Vacation Bible School, was the money box man at Wednesday night supper, taught English as a second language, and was always available to help when needed.

Mr. Ladd is survived by his wife of 58 years, Francis Robinson Ladd; three children Carol Cummins (Clark) of Madison, MS and Donald Ladd, Jr. (Sharon), and Steven Ladd of Vicksburg; his sister Dolores O’Quinn of Knoxville, TN and brother, Douglas Ladd of Madison, AL; four grandchildren – Jordan Parker (Davis), Justice Cummins, Taylor Deer (Ryan), and Chase Ladd (Mollie); and three great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 10, 2021 at The First Baptist Church at 3:00 P.M.. Funeral Service will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Matt Buckle officiating.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the media ministry at First Baptist Church, Vicksburg, MS.
