John Stephen Rodewald

John Stephen Rodewald, 88, of Bemidji, MN passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 8, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, September 16, 2021 at the St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Bemidji, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Arrangements are with the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji. He was born on June 12, 1933 in LaCrosse, WI the son of August and Madeline Rodewald. Upon graduation from college, John immediately volunteered for the draft. While in the Army he married his wife, Nancy, in the Army Chapel in Fort Carson, after which he was then deployed to Germany. Upon his discharge from the Army he then became employed with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources in Forestry where he worked for over 30 years. He held many positions with them, and was transferred to many different locations throughout Minnesota until finally settling down in Bemidji. John was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping with his family, and hunting and fishing with his kids, grandkids, and many many friends. He is survived by his 3 kids …. Cathy (Rob) Towers, Chris (Julie) Rodewald and Tim Rodewald … and 7 grandchildren … Larissa (Schulze), John (Hudson), Caitie (Hudson), Joey (Hudson, Ellie (Hudson), Ben (Dickinson) and Ally (Dickinson). He was preceded in death by his mother and father Madeline and August (Rodewald), wife Nancy (Watson) Rodewald, his sister Arlene (Rodewald), brothers David (Rodewald), Bud (Rodewald) and Bill (Rodewald), and daughter-in-law Sheila (Rodewald).
