St. Martinville - A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 10, 2021, at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville for Laura "Mi-Mi" Weatherly, 79, who passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021, in the hospital after a three weeklong battle with COVID-19 The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Friday. Deacon Adam Conque will officiate at the Funeral Service. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Laura was born May 16, 1942, in Lafayette, Louisiana. She was retired from the U.S. Postal Service after working there for 25 years. She loved telling stories of her life to her family, who were happy to listen. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching “Law and Order” and “The Closer” along with many other shows. Laura cherished her time spent with her family and playing games together. She would play games with her great-great grandson, James, and start yelling at everyone to clean up after they were done playing. She will be deeply missed. She is survived by her daughter, Corlee Guidry; grandchildren, Angela Sundy, Jamie Malley Rachel Tankersley (Eric) and Rachelle Suir (Glen); great-grandchildren, Simon Sundy, Jr. (Keri), Mikell Zuvich, Shawn Sundy, Calleigh Suir, Sydney Sundy, Madison Gaskill, Destiny Tankersley and Daniel Tankersley; great-great grandson, James Hebert; siblings, Mary Hill and Kenneth Buras; nieces and nephews, Stephanie Buras, Darryl Buras, William “Billy” Buras, Shane Hill and Nicholas Buras; and great-niece, Malaysia Buras. She will join her parents, Martin and Lillian Dore' Buras; her loving husband of 34 years, Gerald “Jerry” Weatherly; brother, Martin "Tweety" Buras; and son-in-law, Charles “Danny” Guidry in Heaven.
