Jeff Creek

Jefferson Louis Creek, age 76 of Cookeville, passed away Monday August 30, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born January 7,1945 in Oak Ridge, TN to the late George Everett Creek and Claire Louise Krughoff Creek. Jeff was a US Army veteran. He attended college at Middle Tennessee State University, the University of Southern Illinois (Carbondale), and received a postdoctoral research position at University of California, Los Angeles. He retired from Chevron Energy Technology Company in January 2016 after a 38 year career. Jeff was a Chevron Fellow, recognized by industry peers as an expert and leader in his field. After retirement, he continued to be actively engaged in research as a consultant with the Letton Hall Group in Houston, as Adjunct Professor at Rice University, and as an Affiliate Professor at Colorado School of Mines. Jeff was a 50+ year member of the American Chemical Society. He served as a DeepStar Flow Assurance Subcommittee Chair, as well as Chair of the Flow Assurance Technical Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. In 2016 he was awarded the SPE Projects, Facilities, and Construction Award in Abu Dhabi, UAE. He was a frequent presenter at national and international conferences. Also, in 2016 he was honored as the Distinguished Alumnus by Middle Tennessee State University. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jane Douglas Creek, whom he married April 12,1968, in Madison, TN; son, Andrew (Melissa) Creek of Cookeville; daughter, Laurel (Christian) Spainhour of Decatur, GA; and grandchildren, Ruby and Isaac Creek. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Alan David Creek. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday October 30 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. His family will receive friends Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
