Eleanor J. Barthel, formerly of East Concord, NY passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at the Jennie B. Richmond Nursing Home in Springville at the age of 96. She was born July 8, 1925 in East Aurora, NY a daughter of the late Edson Judson and Welthy Addie (Winsor) Marble. She was a member of the East Concord Community Church and was a member of the East Concord Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Cookie Cutters Club. Her husband of 68 years, George William Barthel, who she married on January 13, 1944 in Springville, passed away on July 8, 2012. She is survived by her children: Barbara (Roger) Griffith of Springville, Patricia (Jay) Beesley of Valparaiso, IN and Janet (late Russell) Spalti of Aurora, NC; her sister, Marilyn (William) Havens of Springville; her brother-in-law, Tony Pilato of Arizona; also survived by 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Elizabeth Barthel, Virginia Baye and Marsha Pilato; two grandsons. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 2:30pm at the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, 271 E. Main St., Springville. Memorials may be made to the East Concord Community Church or to the East Concord Fire Department.
