Carl "Jack" Orr

<p><strong>Carl &ldquo;Jack&rdquo; Orr</strong>, 92, went home to be with the Lord on August 31, 2021.&nbsp; He was born October 4, 1928 in Paducah, Kentucky to the late <strong>Melvin </strong>and <strong>Beulah Orr</strong> and moved to Akron in 1943.&nbsp; He proudly served his country during the Korean War as a Sergeant First Class &ndash;555th &ldquo;Triple Nickel&rdquo; Field Artillery Battalion. <strong>Jack</strong> retired from Goodyear Tire after 38 years of service and was a member of Coventry Lodge #83 for 65 years. He was a life-long member of the Akron Baptist Temple where he served as an usher and deacon.</p> <p><strong>Jack</strong> enjoyed treating his family to dinners out. As an avid golfer, he made a lot of good friends and enjoyed spending winters in Florida with his wife, <strong>Betty</strong>.</p> <p><strong>Jack </strong>was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, <strong>Stu Ferbrache</strong>; brother; sisters; and good friend, <strong>Bernie Wise</strong>.&nbsp; He is survived by his wife of 69 years, <strong>Betty</strong>; children, <strong>Marilyn Ferbrache</strong>, <strong>Linda</strong>, <strong>Sharon (Dave) Baker</strong>, and <strong>Steve</strong>; grandchildren, <strong>Sarah (Tyler) Hershberger</strong>, <strong>Aaron Baker</strong>, <strong>Andy Baker</strong>, and <strong>Jeremy (Maggie) Baker</strong>; great-grandchildren, <strong>Eli </strong>and <strong>Colin Hershberger</strong>, <strong>Chloe Baker</strong>; and many loving nieces and nephews.</p> <p>Friends may call at Bacher Moore Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd., Akron, on Saturday, September 4, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. &ndash; 12:00 p.m. with the funeral service immediately following. Interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.&nbsp;</p> <p>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor&rsquo;s choice, in memory of <strong>Jack</strong>.</p>
