Roger W. Wiegman Obituary

Roger Wiegman, age 81, passed away Monday, August 30, 2021. He was born June 14, 1940 in Pittsburgh, PA. Roger worked as an industrial arts instructor at Ridge Jr. High School in Mentor, OH, retiring after 30 years. He also was a painter, roofer and carpenter during summers and in retirement. He graduated from California University in California, PA with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, and from Edinboro University with a Master’s Degree in School Guidance Counseling. He was a Life Member of BPOE 549, Moose Lodge 490, Chardon Eagles Aerie 2261, Hungarian Culture Club and Trinity Lutheran Church. Roger enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and woodcarving. He carved a variety of gifts for many friends and family. He loved to travel and achieved his goal of visiting all fifty states plus many other countries. Mr. Wiegman is survived by his wife Judy (nee Porter); children Kris (Ben) Bates, Lee (Becky) Wiegman; sister Joyce (Joe) Volutza; nieces April (Doug) Evanitsky, Amy (Jonathan) Blick, and Amber (Jason) Stoner. Preceding Roger in death were his parents Ken and Madeline (nee Dannewitz) Wiegman, his dogs MItzy and Sam, and his cats Smoky, Tigger, Big Boy and Little Girl. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Elks Lodge, 723 Liberty St., Painesville, OH on September 11, at 2pm, with reception following. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Painesville, OH. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Elks.org, Mooseheart.org, WVIZ-PBS, Lake Humane Society, or the charity of your choice.
