Lois McDonald, 86 year old Mooreland resident, died Tuesday, August 31, 2021 in Mooreland. Graveside memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 9, 2021 at the Elmwood Cemetery with Reverend Scott Ware officiating. Burial will follow with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.<br /><br />Lois Maxine (Clayton) McDonald was born February 12, 1935 at the homestead of Minnie E. Clayton, north of Cedardale, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Olga Mae Miller Clayton and Harry W. Clayton. She lost her mother 17 days after her birth. Her grandmother Clayton and Harry raised her in a log cabin. She was loved and cared for by her aunts and uncles through her first five years. There was a new life when her father married again and moved to the Wolf place southeast of Quinlan. <br /><br />Lois attended the Mayfield School for eight years and she then attended Quinlan High School. She was active in 4-H Club, basketball and was a member of the Quinlan United Methodist Church. After graduation, Lois attended Northwestern State College at Alva and received her Teaching degree. She taught school at Arkansas Junior College, Sharon, Kansas, Cherokee, Oklahoma, Woodland Park and Cripple Creek, Colorado and later Fort Supply for 21 years. She worked as a Home Economist at Northwestern Electric Coop at Woodward for eight years.<br /><br />She met the love of her life Tom McDonald and they were married. They purchased the F&W Shoes at Woodward and had it for 13 years. Tom and Lois were blessed with a son Jamie in 1967 and he was a special love that filled their lives.<br /><br />She enjoyed traveling to Branson, Missouri and her and her friends decided they wanted to help the older folks who didn’t travel very much, so The Quinlan United Church and her friends took people on the Village Tour bus for seven years to see special Christian shows. The bus company would come to Quinlan and would pick up everyone every year.<br /><br />Lois is survived by her son Jamie McDonald of Mooreland; numerous cousins, other relatives and many friends.<br /><br />She was preceded in death by her very loving husband, Tom and his parents Clifford and Lela McDonald, her parents, Harry and Olga Mae McDonald and step-mother Aletha, grandmother, Minnie Clayton, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends who helped raise her for five years. <br /><br />Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation with the funeral home accepting the contributions.<br /><br />
