Funeral services for George Michael Hattaway, age 66, of Cochran, who passed away Monday, August 30, 2021, at his residence, will be held Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Fisher Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. Mike was born in Monroe County, and was the son of the late Claude Hattaway. He attended Cochran High School, and began his service to his country at the age of 17, as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army. Following his service he was an employee of the Bleckley County School System. Mike was a member of Dexter Assembly of God. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joel Hattaway; and brother-in-law, Durwood Lee. Survivors are his mother, Jeanette Hattaway; sons, Joseph Hattaway and Jason Hattaway; grandchildren, Jetta and Kenzie Hattaway; brother, Danny (Janice) Hattaway; sisters, Ellen Lee and Helen (Douglas) Hill, all of Cochran. The family will greet friends following the service in the Chapel of Fisher Funeral Home.
