Cody Lee Kappenman Obituary

Cody Lee Kappenman, 39, Lisbon, ND, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.

Cody was born on July 23, 1982 in Bowdle, SD to Tim and Deb Kappenman. He graduated from Oakes High School in 2001 and moved to Fargo to attend college at NDSU.  His college career was paused shortly after celebrating Christmas in 2001.

Soon after, at 19 yrs old, Cody was diagnosed with Congenital Hepatic Fibrosis.  As his health and condition stabilized, Cody discovered his passion of helping others and pursued a career as a paramedic.  In 2008, he joined FM Ambulance in Fargo, ND.

While employed, Cody continued a courageous 19-year medical journey.  After a liver transplant in 2013 failed, he eventually became too critical to undergo a second transplant.  Cody cherished his friends, family, and FM colleagues.  Those close to him know he rarely complained about his health and instead focused on others and the joys of life.  He loved seeing his nieces and nephews grow and celebrate milestones.  He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed the great outdoors, and spent as much time as possible with loved ones.  Cody continued his health battle until it was time to be called home to heaven.  Cody lived out the rest of his days from the comfort of his own home, peacefully with his family by his side.  He is survived by his parents Tim and Deb Kappenman; siblings Casey (Quennel) Kappenman of Katy, TX, Collin (Tina) Kappenman of Grand Rapids, MN, Cayla (Parker) Wiltse of Lisbon, ND, and Caleb Kappenman of Thief River Falls, MN; nieces and nephews Olivia, Casey Jr., Micah, Isaac, Brynn, Brooklynn, Benson; grandparents Joe and Betty Geier; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Cody is reunited in heaven with his grandparents Wilfred and Catherine Kappenman; uncle, Terrance Kappenman; aunt, Susan Kappenman and Angela Kappenman; and cousin, Brason Kappenman.

Trinity Lutheran Church of Lisbon, ND will be holding a visitation on September 2, 2021 from 5-7:00 pm and a prayer service at 7:00 pm and the funeral on September, 3, 2021 at 11:00 am.
