Mardelle Prenger, age 94, of Linn formerly of Jefferson City, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Harbor Place near Linn.
Mardelle was born on November 13, 1926, in Cole County, a daughter to the late Louis C. and Bertha (Carsten) Burbach.
Mardelle was a 1945 graduate of Jefferson City High School.
On October 14, 1950, she was united in marriage to Lawrence A. Prenger at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City. Lawrence preceded her in death on June 10, 2010.
Mardelle was a homemaker and she co-owned and helped her husband with the family farm and Lawrence Prenger Auction Service in the Jefferson City area for over 50 years. There were many days and nights that she was typing up sale bills.
Mardelle was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City.
Mardelle enjoyed gardening, canning, raising chickens, playing bingo, and crafts. She always enjoyed making people smile and always put others before herself. She had special sayings: “See you later alligator” and “Cold feet, warm heart, dirty feet, no sweetheart.”
Mardelle is survived by two sons, Daniel Prenger and his life partner LaDonna Trachsel and Allan Prenger and his wife Phyllis all of Taos; four grandchildren, Wesley Prenger and his wife Bethany, Caleb Prenger and his wife Jennifer, Emily Prenger and Eric Prenger; three great grandchildren, Clinton, Estella, and Anna; along with nieces, nephews and an abundance of friends.
In addition to her parents and husband of 60 years, Mardelle was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Diane Prenger; a granddaughter, Jennifer Prenger; and two brothers, Willis Burbach and Ernest Burbach.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Morton Chapel in Linn. An additional visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City with Fr. Donald Antweiler as the Celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Francis Xavier Parish Cemetery in Taos.
