BAR HARBOR Gail Harbold Reeves died peacefully in her sleep at home on August 27, 2021. Gail was born 85 years ago, into a military family in Annapolis, MD. Her father was Robert P. Harbold, Jr., a graduate of the US Naval Academy where he was an All-American football player. Her mother was Charlotte Rowe Harbold of Annapolis, MD, a graduate of Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore. Gail taught second grade for many years at Connors School in Bar Harbor. She felt it was a great privilege to teach in the town in which she lived and where she could watch the lives she touched as seven-year-olds, grow up. Gail was fortunate in having a wonderful teaching partner, LaVerne Tobin Blomquist and was also assisted by Carol Robbins. Gail traveled to many places in the US and abroad and enjoyed 20 years of winter-living in St. Croix, USVI, but her favorite place was “up-ta-camp” at Lower Lead Mtn. Pond. Gail was married to her best friend for 64 years, John P. Reeves. She loved her family fiercely! Family “the originals”: John, Cathy, Chip, and Alice; “the outlaws”: Stephanie, Glen, Jill, and Dave, and “the additionals”: Kevin Sipe, Vicki Young, and Jane Weathersby. Gail is predeceased by her only sibling Robert P. Harbold, III of Honolulu, Hawaii. A Celebration of Gail’s Life will be held 10 am, Friday Sept. 3, 2021, at Church of Our Father, 91 ME-3, Hulls Cove. A reception will follow at the Hulls Cove School House.
