UPDATED OBITUARY--IKE PHILLIPS Ike Benny Phillips, Sr, 76, passed away at his home in Vardaman on Tuesday, August 24, 2021. Born September 13, 1944, in Mobile, AL, he was the son of the late Alvis Alton Phillips and the late Mary Loretta Whitt Phillips. Ike was a 1963 graduate of Vardaman High School, and a member of Reedy’s Chapel Baptist Church. He was the owner of Western Auto in Vardaman for many years. On August 13, 1977, he married the former Rachel Ann Reedy, and they have spent 44 wonderful years together. Ike was an outdoorsman who loved nature. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his garden. He was also an avid NASCAR fan, and wouldn’t miss the races on TV. When there wasn’t a NASCAR event on television, he could usually be found watching a good western. Ike was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and he treasured the time spent with his family. He will be missed dearly by them, but they will hold his memory close to their heart forever. Pryor Funeral Home is honored to serve the Phillips family. A Funeral Service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at 1:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation on Saturday from 11:00am until service time at the funeral home. Bro. Chris Duncan will be officiating, with interment to follow at Reedy’s Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin Spratlin, Phil Smith, Lynn Reedy, Zack Ivey, Zander Ivey, Lee Smith, Joe Smith, and Carl Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Men’s Sunday School Class of Reedy’s Chapel Baptist Church. He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Rachel Ann Reedy Phillips; sons, Chip Phillips of Tupelo, MS, and Ben Phillips and his wife Stacey of Eads, TN; sisters, Linda Wilson of Bruce, Betty Ann Potts and Peggy (Bob) Lee, both of Water Valley, MS, and Diane Stribling and husband Billy “Gabby” of Olive Branch; grandchildren, Lane Phillips, Sophia Phillips, Alexis Rich, Tyler Phillips, and Emma Phillips. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvis and Mary Phillips; and daughter, Victoria Sloane Phillips Brown. Expressions of sympathy may be left for the family at pryorfuneralhome.com.
