Sharon Ann Hurt

Sharon Ann Hurt, 68 of Oakes, North Dakota died Friday, August 20, 2021 at her home, under the care of CHI Home Health & Hospice.

Sharon was born on January 6, 1953 the daughter of Vernon & Vira (Carpenter) Doty Sr. in Mitchell, South Dakota. She was raised in Ludden, North Dakota and later attended Oakes High School graduating in 1971. Sharon worked very hard as a single mother raising her five children, providing them with a safe loving home.

Sharon eventually met Wayne Hurt and they were married on September 26, 1986 in rural Fullerton, North Dakota. They made their home in Gwinner where they continued to raise their children.

Sharon enjoyed sewing, crafting, cooking and baking with her grandchildren. Through the years, she sewed many clothes, Halloween costumes, barbie clothes, etc. for her kids and grandchildren. Sharon also enjoyed a good old fashion caramel roll with an ice-cold glass of milk. Time by the lake, especially with her children and grandchildren is what she cherished the most.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Wayne Hurt of Forman, ND; children, Missy (Jay) Brademeyer of Fort Ransom, ND; Travis (Ester) Engquist of Oakes, ND; Garrett (Shantelle) Engquist of Stirum, ND; Miranda (Tracy) Aarons of Newton, KS; Trent Engquist of Fargo, ND; Pat (Gina) Hurt of Garrison, ND; Kyle (Kristi) Hurt of Littleton, CO; Dale (Nichole) Hurt of Sioux Falls, SD; twenty one grandchildren, Cade, Magi, Branden, Baylee, Colin, Adaline, Alayna, Austin, Tori, Jaleigh, Kenneth, Renae, Jack, Goldie, Madelin, Carter, Ethan, Camdyn, Masen, Elli and Ava; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Vernon Doty Jr. of Oakes, ND; Karen (Jack) Swearingen of Crete, ND; Diane (Brad) Baldwin of Grand Junction, CO; Wayne Doty of Oakes, ND; numerous nieces and nephews.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Nathan Doty
