Erick Kaiser Obituary

Erick Kaiser Erick Kaiser was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin in the summer of 1928. His parents, William and Elizabeth were recent immigrants to the United States from Germany. Erick spent his childhood and teen years in Eastern Montana where his father raised fruit, vegetables and sheep. He met his wife Joyce in his late teens and they continued to date through their college years at North Central Bible College. Erick graduated and they were married in 1948. Erick and Joyce started their life together as pastors of a church in Glendive, Montana where three of their four children were born. In 1954 they moved to Billings Montana where they started a new church in a converted home. Living in the basement with sanctuary on the main floor Reverend Kaiser grew the church and started a construction project for a new church facility on neighboring property. Their fourth child was born in 1957 and in the spring of 1958 they moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho to pastor an established church. In the early 1960’s Erick and Joyce purchased a piece of property in Gibbonsville, Idaho. Over the next few years Erick built his family home in Gibbonsville and moved his family permanently in 1965 where he continued his ministerial life as an Evangelist, traveling and holding meetings at churches throughout the West and Mid-West. For many years during the summer and fall months Erick worked for the Salmon National Forest in Recreation Patrolman and fire crew duties. During those Forest Service years Erick was instrumental in discovering and preserving the lost location of three Chinese burials near China Springs and rediscovering portions of the old Yellow Jacket trail. In 1976 Erick went to work as a missionary with a focus on new church and bible school construction where he was responsible for many new facilities. He first worked for seven years in Mexico and Brazil then moving to Jamaica where along with Joyce served for over 15 years, raising funds, coordinating teams of volunteers, importing supplies when unavailable locally and general design and construction. Erick was a consummate outdoorsman where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, getting firewood, hiking the mountains, exploring old mining and historical sites. He was an avid rock collector and has collected many unusual specimens. Another hobby was using his metal detector on the beaches in Jamaica where he found many coins and jewelry pieces over the years. In 2015 Erick and Joyce moved to Maple Valley, Washington to live on their son and daughter-in-law’s property. On July 27th, 2021, just one day after his 93rd birthday, Erick passed peacefully in his sleep. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his family and his many friends. Erick is survived by Joyce, his wife of nearly 73 years, his four children, Roger of Maple Valley, Washington, Marci of Poulsbo, Washington, Terry of Spanaway, Washington and Valda of Gibbonsville, Idaho. He is also survived by two Brothers Roland and Werner along with two Sisters Wilma and Gladys, 10 Grandchildren and 20 Great Grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, one sister Irmgard, one niece, two nephews and one granddaughter.
