Roberta G. Ivanoff

Longtime Alaskan and Kenai resident Roberta G. Ivanoff, 79, passed away Monday, Aug. 9, 2021 in Anchorage. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at the American Legion in Kenai. Roberta was born Aug. 7, 1942, in Bakersfield, Calif. She grew up and received her education there and also attended Bakersfield Junior College. She moved to Alaska in 1962 and lived in Kenai. She worked at the Rig Café, a pulltab gaming manager and also at Walmart. Roberta was a faithful member of the Holy Assumption of the Virgin Mary Russian Orthodox Church. She was known to be a very kind and giving member of the Kenai Community and volunteered often at the Dena’ina Wellness Center. She also supported many charities including the Veterans Services and Paralyzed Veterans. Roberta enjoyed quilting, watching all sports, especially the Mariners, Seahawks, and tennis. She also collected Beanie Babies and baseball cards. She attended Tyotkas lunches, played cribbage, and loved spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family wrote, “Grandma Roberta was a very strong matriarch of our family and in the Kenai Community. She always offered a helping hand and wasn’t afraid to tell you what was what. The word ornery could be used endearingly to describe her.” Roberta was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, son, Gregg and sisters, Jackie and Phyllis. She is survived by her daughter, Melinda of Anchorage; grandchildren, Kynde, Chris, Bud, Kami, Gavan and Sonja; great-grandchildren, Aidan, Taylor, Kaydence, Kasen, Gibson, Kash, Tessa and Sirius; and many nieces, nephews and cousins in California and Alaska. Memorial donation may be sent to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, P.O. Box 758589, Topeka, KS 66675-8589. Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
