James Murphy Obituary
James Arthur Murphy, known by most as “Uncle Jimmy” passed away August 13, 2021, at the age of 78. He was born July 24, 1943, to William MacAllen and Henryetta Murphy. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Linda (Murphy) Williams. He is survived by his brother, Michael Murphy and nephews, Todd Murphy and Jason Murphy, as well as great nieces & nephews, and great-great nieces & nephews.
Despite limitations life gave him, at the height of his life, Uncle Jimmy achieved independence for himself by working many jobs that he enjoyed. Employed at a hotel restaurant, his boss, Chef Micheal, remarked of Jimmy that he was the hardest working employee he’d ever had.
One of his favorite pastimes was going to church and making new friends. As a result, Jimmy had friends from Jamestown to Maryville and all throughout the state of Tennessee.
Three things Uncle Jimmy loved were the University of Tennessee, Christmas, and family. He was at his happiest when he was spending time with his family during the holidays, and could oftentimes be seen sporting a Santa hat with his UT apparel.
While the family and friends he leaves behind will miss him in their lives, they rejoice in knowing his body and mind are perfectly restored, and that they will be reunited with him in Heaven.
The funeral service will be held at 11 am (CST) Friday, August 20, 2021, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home in Cookeville, Tennessee. The family will receive visitors prior to the service that day beginning at 10:30.
