Wesley A. Hanson

Wesley A. Hanson, seventy-five was born February 23, 1932 in Devil’s Lake, North Dakota. After graduating from North Dakota State University he began teaching and coaching at Crosby High School from 1957 to 1963. He moved to Yelm for one year before beginning his education and coaching career in the Enumclaw School District. He coached football for several years and track for nearly thirteen years at Enumclaw High School. Wes earned a Masters Degree in guidance counseling at the University of Washington and another Masters Degree in administration from University of Puget Sound. He spent ten years at Enumclaw Junior High School as guidance counselor and became Vice-Principal there before finishing his distinguished career as Principal of Westwood Elementary School. Mr. Hanson died May 31, 2007 at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma. Wes loved his family and retirement allowed him the time to enjoy his grandchildren. He also enjoyed golf. He maintained contact with many of his former students from throughout his career in North Dakota and Washington. He is survived by wife, Carmen of Enumclaw; Sons, Keith Hanson of Renton, Michael (Kim) Hanson of Graham, and Scott (Kim) Hanson of Enumclaw; daughters, Carollynn Hanson of Auburn, and Jan (Doug) Haskell of Vancouver; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren and sister, Elva (John) Held of Spokane. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, June 6, 2007, 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Enumclaw. Inurnment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery.
